These past couple of weeks have been very busy for the Novice Team, coached by Jeff Humphries and Larry Rae. The kids have all been steadily improving their game and having a great time doing it. Everyone is learning their positions, staying on-side and if interested, taking a turn as goal-tender. The games are getting to be very entertaining.

On Saturday, Dec 1, the Lampman Team braved the roads to make the game. They were a little short-handed but got some help from some of our local kids who were on hand. Carlyle had Colby Cuddington in net. That boy has some moves! All the kids played hard and had a great game. The game ended in an 11 - 2 win for Carlyle. Our goal scorers included Cadence Chapman, Krimson Standingready, Drayden Arndt, Tyrell Dixon, Cooper Humphries, Kaysha Turner and Gracie Sanders. Tyrell, Gracie and Taryn Cappo also earned assists.

On Sunday, Dec 2, the first tournament game was against Redvers. This was a nail-biter, with plenty of action. Logan Romaniuk made his first appearance as net-minder. He was a wall! Redvers also had some strong goal-tending and the game ended in a 3-3 tie. Goals were scored by Krimson and Colby, with Cadence getting an assist. Logan received the MVP award for the first game.

In the second tournament game Carlyle came up against Wawota. This was Tyrell Dixon's first chance as goalie. Carlyle fought hard and matched the Wawota team shot for shot. In the end, Carlyle lost 6 - 7. Goals were scored by Colby, Krimson, Caydence and Cooper. Colby Cuddington received MVP for the second game. All the kids put in a great effort - way to go team!

On Saturday, Dec. 8 the Novice Cougars had another shot at Wawota in their league game. This was a strong showing for our Cougars, with Drayden Arndt in goal. He stumped the Wawota team and Carlyle came out on top 12 - 5. Everyone got in the action with goals by Everett Brown, Mitch Himmelspach, Krimson Standingready, Cadence Chapman and Colby Cuddington. Everett, Mitch and Taryn Cappo also earned assists.

Dec. 9 the team played in another tournament in Alameda, this time coming up against Melita and Arcola. Against Melita, Mitch Himmelspach played net and had a strong showing - he really used his head! The teams were pretty evenly matched, going shot for shot and goal for goal. Colby, Cadence, Krimson, Cooper and Logan all scored goals. The game ended in a shoot out, with Melita winning 16 - 15.

In the Arcola game, Carson Dangstorp had a shot as net-minder. Again the teams stayed within a few goals of each other throughout, with Colby, Cadence, Krimson, Tyrell and Mitch all scoring. The end result was 13 - 12 win for Carlyle. Way to go Cougars!

This coming week, the Novice team visits Redvers at 5pm on Thurs, Dec 13 & takes on Kipling, in town on Sat, Dec 15, at 10:15am. Good luck team and keep up the good work!
