The Alida community extends sincere sympathy to Eleanor, Daryl and Cheryl Harrison on the death of Joyce (Harrison) Folkerts on March 13 at the age of 81 in Medicine Hat, Alta. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Gladys Harrison, husband, Garry Folkerts and brother Elgin Harrison.

She will be remembered by her daughters Tammy (Nolan) Herman, Shelley (Rick) Belea and Taralyn Folkerts, and three granddaughters, sister-in-law Eleanor Harrison and nephews Dale (Lorraine) Harrison and Daryl (Cheryl) Harrison and family.

We received a phone call from the Arcola Health Centre (Home Care East) the other day and were registered to receive the vaccination this week in Redvers. Hey,  you know it’s not so bad being “old” after all, no more waiting – oh well one just has to remain patient and all will be looked after.

I do believe spring has sprung – most of the snow has melted away, and boy is it ever dry. Not much run-off this year and most sloughs have very little water in them or have dried up. The wildlife will be short of water too – have seen some geese flying over, but not sure if they will stick around this spring. Before one knows it the green grass, pussy willows, leaves, and even the wild flowers will begin to peek out from their homes. It is one of the nicest times of the year.

I will see that your news gets into a paper. I do know that COVID continues to play havoc with any plans for doing anything exciting, but we are moving on, being very cautious and safe. Continue to keep a safe distance and wear your mask – we will beat this pandemic.

I do appreciate all your input as it does help keep this column interesting.
