Wawota news - good luck to Julia Houff

Congratulations to Renee Baudu and Catlin Abel on the birth of their daughter. She was born on June 26 and has been named Oaklynn Nancy Raemarie. She is a sister to Kinley, Bostyn and Raelynn. Grandparents are Terry and Jake Restau and Rene Baudu.

Congratulations also to Kendra Shelby and Shane Hirtle on the birth of their son, Cohen Robert James. He was born on June 28 and weighed seven pounds, 10 ounces. He is a grandson for Noreen Brady and the late Jeff Hirtle, Ken and Sandra Shelby and great-grandparents are Gwen Hirtle, Edgar and Ann Shelby and Verna Polvi.

A funeral service was held last Friday at the Wawota United Church for Tom Dorrance. Tom passed away on April 5, 2020. A lunch was provided by the United Church Ladies at the Wawota Town Hall.

Julia Houff, a Grade 12 student at Wawota Parkland High, qualified for the 2021 National High School Rodeo on July 7. On July 18th, she and her horse Flitt travelled to Lincoln, Neb., to compete in the barrel racing event. On Aug. 6-8, she will be in Swift Current to compete in the 2021 Canadian High School Rodeo Finals.

Sympathy to the family and friends of Jeff Hirtle who passed away on July 8 at the age of 54 years. He leaves his sons, Shane (Kendra) and Jesse. his mother, Gwen Hirtle, and baby grandson, Cohen. A social gathering and supper were held at the Hirtle Farm on July 16 in Jeff’s memory.

Congratulations to the many members of the Wawota 4H who participated in the Whitewood 4H Regional Show and Sale on June 29 and 30. These members were Jordan Dorrance, grand champion steer and senior showmanship; Sydney Dorrance, reserve grand champion female; Brock Dorrance, reserve grand champion steer; Tessa Brehaut, cloverbud record book; Austyn Brehaut, cloverbud judging and cloverbud showmanship; and Curtis Hewitt, junior judging.
