Dennis Albert Cherpin, late of Radville passed away February 12, 2012, at the age of 63 years. He is survived by his wife, Alice Cherpin, Radville; sons, Kerry (Bobbi) Cherpin, Lethbridge, AB and their children: Courtlynd and Sydnee, Dale (Shauna) Cherpin, Edmonton, AB and their children: Rylee, Blake and Drew, Trent (Kristy) Cherpin, Calgary, AB and their children: Cooper and Chase; his parents, Albert and Mary Cherpin; his brothers, Marcel (Phyllis) Cherpin, Lawrence (Sharlie) Cherpin, Norman (Kathy) Cherpin, all of Radville, along with numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Dennis Albert Cherpin was born in Radville on December 7, 1948. He was raised in Neptune and went to Bourassa School, St. Olivier School and Colgate School. When he was 13, he worked for his Uncle on the farm on weekends, after school and holidays. At 16 years of age, Dennis went custom combining in the States for Ed Jalbert. He later worked for Becker Drilling, PC McLeods and Larsen Construction. He married Alice Deschambault in 1969. In 1971, their first child, Kerry, was born. The family moved to Moose Jaw where Dennis enrolled in a mechanics course at STI and received his interprovincial license while working for Traves Trucking on weekends and after classes. They later moved to Regina for a short period at which time their second son, Dale, was born. They then purchased a quarter of land SW of Radville. Dennis worked for his brother-in-law and for MacRobert Motors until its closing in 1981. Their third and youngest son, Trent, was born in 1978, a few years after moving to the farm. Dennis started work at Barber Motors in Weyburn in the fall of 1981 and enjoyed serving his many customers until his illness forced him to retire in May, 2010. Dennis also farmed 5 quarters of land with the help of his best friend, his brother Lawrence. Dennis played rec hockey and slow pitch as well as hunting and fishing but his passion was always trap shooting. He was a member of the Amateur Trap shooting Association and went to tournaments across Canada as well as following the winter chain trap shooting in Arizona. Dennis was a loving husband, wonderful father and exceptional grandfather. He had numerous friends and was always known for his generosity and laughter.Dennis was always the first one to help anyone and everyone in need. The last two years, Dennis fought hard for every minute, just to spend more time with his family, whom he loved so much. On February 12 Dennis was called up to trap shoot at the highest level. Funeral mass for Dennis was held on Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m. from Holy Family Parish Catholic Church, Radville with Fr. Anthony Pangan, celebrant. Interment followed at Laurier Cemetery, Radville. Honorary pallbearers were all in attendance.
