Edith “Joyce” Hemphill, born March 22, 1924 and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the age of 92 years. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Beatrice Quick; brothers, Teddy and Victor Quick; sister, Elsie Wells; former husband and father of her children, Harry Hemphill; son-in-law, Jim Hunter and infant granddaughter, Tara Hemphill. Joyce enjoyed many sports activities in her lifetime. She tried her hand at acrobatics, swimming, dancing and badminton. Joyce also loved to play cards, in particular she enjoyed playing bridge. For many years, starting at the age of 14, Joyce worked on a casual basis at the Weyburn Review. As well she worked for three to four years at the Bank of Commerce. For many years Joyce volunteered at the Wheatland Senior Centre, had a lifetime membership and served on the board. Joyce was also handy at crocheting, knitting and sewing. She had received no special training but created many beautiful projects.  She will be lovingly remembered by her son, David (Phun) Hemphill of Thailand; daughter, Doris Hunter of Shuswap, BC; daughter, Sheila Medwid of Regina; daughter-in-law, Barb Hemphill; six grandchildren, Aaron, Johnny, Teresa, Sarah, A-Jay and Brocade; numerous great grandchildren; special niece, Darlene (Graham) Thackeray and special great niece, Sheila (Ian) Thackeray, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 23, at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Weyburn, with Reverend Brian Woods officiating. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. A Funeral Lunch will follow at All Saints Anglican Church in the lower level.
