Elaine Ann Phillips (nee Gallinger), passed away peacefully on July 2, 2017 at the age of 83 years. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Minnie Gallinger; first husband, Andrew Bisson; second husband, Larry Phillips; brothers, Donald (Georgina) Gallinger and Marvin Gallinger; brothers-in-law, Norman Eggum and Richard Kater. Elaine was born at Trossachs, about 20 miles north on a farm, March 20, 1934; her father had to ride to Yellow Grass to get the doctor. She was born into a family of three older brothers and would be followed by four sisters. In 1945, when Elaine was 10 years, old the family moved to Halbrite. Her father was a big farmer with lots of cattle, horses, pigs and chickens and she grew up knowing that she and her siblings had lots of chores to do, both in the morning and at night. Followed by the evening chores she would do her homework from school, all without electricity. In 1956 Elaine married Andy Bisson from Wainwright, AB and together they raised five children. She was a stay at home mom. Elaine put in a big garden, canned fruits and vegetables and took in boarders for about ten years. Once the youngest of her children was in school she worked outside of the home at Weyburn Home Care, the Weyburn Review, The Bargain Barn and cleaned homes for others. In 1986 Andy passed away after 30 great years together. Elaine would later marry Larry Phillips in 1994 and they farmed together west of Weyburn. She learned to drive a tractor and a combine and continued her practice of planting and harvesting a large garden. They shared 12 wonderful years together. Elaine is remembered by her children, Arlene (Bill) Slimmon of Regina, and their children, Katie and Andrew Slimmon; Lawrence (Darlene) Bisson of Weyburn, and their children, Brielle, Haiden, Andrie Bisson; Aaron (Jacqueline) Bisson of Kamloops, BC, and their children, Alyssa Bisson (Josh Coates) and Kyra Bisson; Kerry (Karen Flick) Bisson of Calgary, AB and their children, Annika and Wyatt Bisson; Joani Bisson of Vancouver, BC; brother, Armond Gallinger; sisters, Elda Kater, Helen Eggum, Jean Gallinger, Edie (Lorne) Ferguson; sister-in-law, Viola Gallinger; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation was held Wednesday, July 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. The Funeral Service was held Thursday, July 6, at 11:00 a.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating. Interment followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. Pallbearers were Brad Eggum, Trevor Dykstra, Clifford Gallinger, Randy Bunse, Ross Gallinger and Barry McKim.
