It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Fay Patricia Johnston. Fay passed away while on vacation in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on February 13, 2012 at the age of 70 years.

It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Fay Patricia Johnston. Fay passed away while on vacation in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on February 13, 2012 at the age of 70 years. She was predeceased by her parents Amoy and Mary Weelson. Fay is survived by her loving husband Johnny of 43 years and her two daughters: Melissa (Dan) Eddy, Red Deer, AB; Tanya (Ryan) Stooshnoff, Weyburn; five grandchildren: Tylere, Rhian, Graysen, Liam and Quentin; her brother Ed (Marj) Weelson, Red Deer, AB; brother-in-law Wayne (Bev) Johntson, Weyburn; niece, Hayley (Rob) Short, Whitecourt, AB; nephew, Beau (Vicki) Johnston, Saskatoon, and their families, as well as many other close relatives. She also leaves behind many dear friends she considered family. Fay was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on April 12, 1941 where she was raised and educated as a nurse. She completed her nursing and continued to work in South Africa until 1965. Fay came to Canada in 1965 as a Registered Nurse, with Weyburn being her first job posting. She briefly nursed in Saskatoon, SK and Red Deer, AB before returning to Weyburn for the remainder of her career. Over the years she met and cared for many wonderful people in the community until retiring in 1998. She married Johnny in 1968 and they spent over 43 years together. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, gardening as well as cooking and knitting which she always shared with others, but her greatest interest and enjoyment was always her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her kind soul, great sense of humor and generosity. A funeral service was held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on February 18, for her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by many. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, with Reverend John Ferrier officiating. A time of fellowship will be held at Knox Presbyterian Hall following the service. Donations may be made in memory of Fay to the Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation.
