J. Gilbert Vipond, late of Weyburn passed away Monday, February 20, 2012, at the age of 88 years. Gilbert was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Susannah Vipond; infant brother, Milton; sisters: Viola (Fern) Rommann, Vivian Vipond, Mildred (Erling Olson), Opal Vipond; brother-in-law, Jim Charlton; nephews, Dale Rommann and Murry Charlton. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor Vipond; daughter, Joanne (Bruce) Schurko; grandson, Kyle (Tammy) Schurko; great grandchildren: Caden, Halle and Jack Schurko; sister, Mabel Charlton; nieces: Neva (Clayton) Squire, Elaine Pederson, Louise Rumball, Bonnie (David) Little, Jack (Carol) Charlton, Janice Charlton along with numerous great nieces, nephews and in-laws. Gilbert was born on December 5, 1923. In his younger years he curled, played ball and loved to hunt. Gilbert enjoyed travelling to Hawaii and vacationing. Farming was his life, he also loved gardening, yard work and nature but most of all his family. Viewing was held on Friday, February 24 at 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. Graveside funeral service for Gilbert was held on Friday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. from Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn with Rev. M. Barnabas, officiating. Pallbearers were Brad Barlow, David Little, Duane Squire, Roger Blain, Jim Hallberg and Glen Adacsi. Honorary pallbearers were Keith Sprecken, Dennis Hallberg and Edmund Mazur.
