On Friday, February 24, 2012 Jean Smyth, widow of Hugh Smyth, formerly of Kennedy and Kipling passed away at Emerald Park, at the age of 83 years. Jean's life revolved around her love of family and the farm. She was musical and creative, energetic and above all a great cook. She was active in the Kennedy community and made numerous contributions to the various local organizations. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren: Earl; Betty (Brian) and their children Matthew (Vicki) and Colin; Eileen (Ken) and their children Josh and Max; Dale (Cindy) and their children Sarah (Shaun) and Grace; Lynn (Vanessa) and their children Kaelan and Colten; Travis (Blaze) and Mason; sisters Margarette Bangsund and Arlene McLeod; sisters-in-law Hilda McLeod, and Doris McLeod; brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Kate Smyth, Jim and Amaret Smyth, Iola Smyth, George and Lorraine Smyth, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband Hugh Smyth in December 2008, daughter Shirley Smyth in January 2012, sister Wilma Tytlandsvik and brothers Murdock, Cameron and Alex McLeod. A service to remember Jean's life was held in the Kennedy Community Hall, Kennedy, on Saturday March 3 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Barbara Wilkins officiating. Cremation with interment in the Kennedy Cemetery. If friends so desire donations in memory of Jean Smyth can be made to the Kennedy United Church or the Kipling Hospital Palliative Care Fund.
