Lorna G. Ashworth

Lorna Ashworth passed away peacefully May 13, 2017 at the age of 65 years. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mamie Hanson; husband, Gordon Ashworth; in-laws, Phyllis and Jack Ashworth; brother-in-law, Eugene Emberley and niece, Taylor Hanson. Lorna was born January 31, 1952, the third of nine children born to George and Mamie Hanson and grew up on a farm near Beaubier, until 1972. She also lived in Flin Flon, Manitoba from 1972 until 1975. On February 24, 1973 in Flin Flon, Lorna married Gordon Ashworth. They returned to the Oungre area and farmed from 1975. Gordon passed away March 8, 1995. Lorna moved from the Oungre farm in 2002 and moved to Regina where she resided until her passing. She loved to garden and take care of her yard. However her favourite thing to do was spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lorna cared for the health and well being of all that she knew. She was considered a great neighbor and wonderful friend. Lorna will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Jarret (Christina) Ashworth of Pilot Butte, and his children, Brayden and Tallyn; Jeremy (Debbie) Ashworth of Regina, and their children, Ava, Morgan and Jake; Jory (Jolene) Ashworth of Weyburn, and their children, Jorja, Jagger and Jacek; brothers and sisters, Linda Hockley, Lane (Fran) Hanson; Debbie (Terry) Obst, Mona (Stuart) Bloor, Charlene Emberley, Emery (Jean) Hanson, Steven (Marcy) Hanson and Wendy (Chris) Park, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, Ashworth family and friends. Visitation was held Tuesday, May 16, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Service was held Wednesday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn, with Pastor David Miller officiating. Interment followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. Pallbearers were Dustin Emberley, Chris Hanson, Eldon Culham, Wade Ashworth, Curtis Larson and Owen Ashworth. Honourary Pallbearers were all of Lorna’s nieces and nephews. The funeral lunch followed at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #47, Weyburn. Donations in memory of Lorna may be made to the “William Booth Special Care Home”, Regina Wascana Grace Hospice at 50 Angus Road, Regina, Saskatchewan S4R 8P6.
