Pamela Mary Zastrow

Pamela Mary Zastrow (nee Fellner) was born on September 15, 1959 to proud parents Frank and Myriel Fellner of Khedive. She was raised in Khedive and went to school there from Grades 1 through 8. She completed her education in Pangman, graduating from Grade 12 in 1977. After completing grade school, Pam moved to Weyburn and started working at Souris Valley Extended Care Hospital. Pam met and fell in love with Brad Zastrow and they were married on September 24, 1988. Their happiness grew with the arrival of son, Brendan Francis on January 27, 1991 and daughter Nicole Marie on August 15, 1995. They lost a son, Tanner, in April of 1996. In 1999 Brad was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in August of that year. Through this all Pam remained a tower of strength and her thoughts were always for her family. Pam's love for family was shown every day, in everyday things, the things that mean so much - cooking a favourite meals, washing clothes, going on a family vacation, taking Mom for groceries, going to Regina shopping for clothes with Nicki, and watching Brendan play ball. Pam's greatest joy was her family. She was very proud of her children. Brendan bowled, played baseball and football. When he was in Grade 11 his team won the provincial football title. There was no prouder parent than Pam. Nicole was involved in dance, basketball, choir and school musicals. Nicole is also an honour student at the Weyburn Comprehensive High School and Pam was equally proud of her achievements. When Nicole started school Pam went back to work as a special needs teacher's aide. Pam's love affair with football started at an early age, attending football games with her family when she was six. Her coaching and playing career started a little later. Her friends can remember Pam teaching the girls to play football at school. She continued to be an avid football fan throughout her life. She was also a fan and supporter of the Weyburn Red Wings and the family had season tickets for many years. Pam has touched our lives in many ways. She was a great mother, a caring daughter, a loyal and trustworthy friend. As her children said, she was the strongest person we know. This was never more true than when she faced her last battle. Pam was diagnosed with cervical cancer in December of 2010. She passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011. There are no words that can describe our feelings, of how much we love and respect Pam. Her courage, strength, and determination is an inspiration to us all. Pam was predeceased by her husband Brad Zastrow; son Tanner Zastrow (in infancy); father Frank Fellner; father-in-law Robbie Zastrow; mother-in-law Alma Zastrow; brother-in-law Bob Zastrow; and sister-in-law Myrna McCrystal. She leaves to mourn her death, son Brendan Zastrow (Chantel Johnston); daughter Nicole Zastrow; mother Myriel Fellner; brother-in-law Jeff (Melanie) Zastrow; sister-in-law Gloria Zastrow; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, November 23 from Grace United Church, Weyburn, with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating. Interment took place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn.
