Peter Joseph Fahlman passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the age of 84 years. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Gabriel and Theresa Fahlman; brother, Chris Fahlman and brother-in-law, Thomas Smith. Peter was born at Section 21~Township 14~ Range 11 West of the 2nd, a farm in the Montmarte area, to Gabriel and Theresa Fahlman May 15, 1932. When Peter was two years old they moved to a farm near Fillmore. At the age of 14 the family moved once again to a farm north of Fillmore. In 1975 the family moved into the town of Fillmore but continued to farm until he and his brother retired in 2003. Peter grew up helping his father and grandfather on the farm in the late 30’s and 40’s. He liked to work with horses, threshing and haying. Peter didn’t like school but he attended Downing School northeast of Fillmore until grade 5 and later walked and rode a horse to Myers School north of Fillmore early in the morning to start a fire and warm the school building for the students. In the late 50’s Peter got some land to farm with his dad and brothers. He loved to visit with people, playing cards and enjoyed overnight trips to casinos and spas. He enjoyed going of fishing trips, watching the Blue Jays play baseball as well as hockey games. Peter also enjoyed getting together with his family and friends. He also travelled numerous times to destinations in British Columbia, Alberta and the United States. As well, Peter made trips to Hawaii, the Black Hills, to see the Blue Jays play, on curling tours, Alaska Cruises, bus trips to the Maritimes and Niagara Falls and parts of Europe. He definitely enjoyed his retirement years. Peter was active in his community as well as at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. He will be missed by his family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Ray Fahlman of Fillmore; sister, Eva (Allan) Basky of Regina; sister, Cecilia (Tony) Tokarz of Regina; sister, Eileen (Murray) Huber of Calgary, AB; sister Kathy Smith of Regina; sister-in-law, Bridget Fahlman of Fillmore, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Prayers were said Tuesday, April 18, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and the Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Fillmore, with Father Joy Montiague celebrating. Interment took place at Fillmore Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennis Tokarz, Warren Tokarz, Steven Basky, Curtis Smith, Todd Smith, Brent Kauk and Dave Fahlman.
