Ralph Robert Dechant late of Weyburn, passed away January 20, 2012 at the age of 93 years. Ralph was born to Reinhold and Hilda Dechant on December 28, 1918 at Colfax. He attended Diamond School in the Colfax district. Ralph farmed in the area with his brothers and sister, and worked as a farm hand with the neighbouring farmers and the R.M. of Wellington. He enjoyed curling and hockey, especially the Red Wings, attending local social events, and picking rocks. Ralph was also a decorated World War II veteran. Ralph is predeceased by his father and mother, Reinhold and Hilda Dechant; four brothers, Walter, Arthur, Ernie and Carl and his sister, Grace. Ralph will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Clifford Dechant of Weyburn. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 25 at 2:00 P.M. from Fletcher Funeral Chapels, Weyburn, with Marjorie McLeod CLA officiating. Honourary Pallbearers were all in attendance. Interment to be held at a later date at Regina Memorial Gardens, Regina. Donations may be made in memory of Ralph to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
