Rose Anne Drescher (nee Glasser)

On Monday, December 10, 2012, Rose Anne Drescher (nee Glasser) of Moose Jaw, and formerly of Weyburn, passed away at the age of 85 years. She will be sadly missed by her children: Diane and Doug Bender - High River, AB, and Carol and Dwain Geiger - Moose Jaw; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Dana and Patrick (Taya, Layne), Guildinger - High River, AB; Dacy and Tim (Callie, Lexie) Zacharias - High River; Phillip and Scarlett (Rylan, Kellyn, Sophie) Geiger - Regina; and Arla and Jeff (Bailey, Mitchell) Parr - Moose Jaw. Rose was predeceased by her infant daughter, Dolores, her husband, Jerome (Harry) Drescher, her brother, Peter Glasser, her sister, Mary Posten, and her parents, John and Odillia Glasser. In 1956, Rose and Harry moved from Assiniboia to Weyburn where they operated the Robinson Store. In 1971, Rose and Harry owned and operated Weyburn Furniture Warehouse and gave their two sons-in-law, Doug and Dwain, their start in business. In the mid 70's Rose and Doug purchased the old service station property at the junction of Highways 13 and 39, where they had a mobile home sales lot (Wey-Villa Homes) and later built a furniture store (Bender's Furniture) where Rose was responsible for sales and administration. Prior to retiring, Rose attended the switchboard at Souris Valley Extended Care Hospital. Rose was very active in the arts and crafts community and loved to paint and quilt. Her love of square dance took her to many new places and her camper van could be seen at many ball games in Weyburn and Oungre Park. In 2006, Rose moved to Moose Jaw to be closer to Carol and her family. She will be fondly remembered by her friends at Victoria Towers. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorialization will take place at Green Acres Cemetery in Weyburn at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Association, #301 - 2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1, would be appreciated. In living memory of Rose, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register book at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
