William Phillip "Bill" Rose, late of Stoughton passed away February 9, 2012, at the age of 84 years. Bill was predeceased by his parents Ted and Mary Rose; brothers, Frank (in infancy), Jim Rose, Ernest Dickey; sisters, Carolyn Knight, Marjorie Smith and Kaye Allan. Bill is survived by his loving wife Muriel of 21 years; nephew, Kelly (Mary) Keturakis and their family; niece, Vikki (Larry) McKay; step-children: Ted (Donna) and Tom (Lesa) Thoroughgood (step-grandson Michael Thoroughgood), Dawn (Murray) Baker; brother-in-law, Don (Shirley) Anslow; special nieces and nephews: Cheryl Popplestone, Bette Greidanus, Emily Shierk, Gerry (Anne) Dickey, Gordon, Barry and Helen Allan and their families, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends that he loved as family. Bill farmed both cattle and grain with his brother Jim. He loved the outdoors and felt closest to god when outside. Bill was the youngest of six children. He stayed at home and looked after his mother during her last illness. When Opal Keturakis came to be housekeeper to help with his mother she brought her children, Vikki and Kelly. Kelly grew up on the farm and soon was helping. Bill and Kelly had many good times together. Bill liked to travel and enjoyed some bus trips as well as truck/car adventures. Bill and Muriel were members of the Stoughton Drop-in Centre and had lots of fun and good times there with their friends. Lots of laughs were shared on coffee row as well. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, uncle, step-father, friend and neighbour. He always made an honest deal and treated everyone fairly. A celebration of his life was held on Tuesday, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. from Creelman United Church, Creelman with Mr. Robert Fenn, officiating. Interment followed at Heward Cemetery, Heward. Lunch followed at Heward Community Hall, Heward. For family and friends so wishing donations in memory of Bill may be made to Operation Eyesight Universal, World Headquarters, 4 Parkdale Cres. NW, Calgary, AB T2N 3T8 or a charity of choice. Arrangements were entrusted to RD Family Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Weyburn (848-0333 ~ 1-888-848-0333).
