Volunteers needed for Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park

Work has begun to clean up the Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park, with the hopes to have it in shape for the animals to come around the end of May.

WEYBURN – Work has begun to clean up the Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park, with the hopes to have it in shape for the animals to come around the end of May, but volunteer help is needed in order to proceed.

A work bee was held on Saturday with a few people, with two more scheduled, on the evening of Thursday, May 9 from 5 p.m. onwards, and then on Sunday, May 12 for the afternoon, starting at 1 p.m.

Board member Kristy Frayn said volunteers are also going to be needed for the chores of taking care of the animals once they are in place for the summer. They are also open to anyone joining the board this year if they wish to help out.

The goal is for the animal park to have its season grand opening on Sunday, June 2, she said.

To volunteer or find out how to help, Frayn said there are a few ways people can let her know, including email at wtapark@gmail.com, by messaging on the park’s Facebook page, or by calling or texting her at 1-403-578-6126.

One of the other needs for volunteers this year will be for fundraising, as Frayn noted there were not very many donations made towards the park’s operations last year.
