Weyburn Wrestling Club hosts, wins 17 medals at youth provincials

The Weyburn Wrestling Club hosted the 2024 SAWA youth provincial championship in Weyburn at the Cugnet Centre on March 23, winning 17 medals.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Wrestling Club hosted the 2024 SAWA youth provincial championship in Weyburn at the Cugnet Centre on March 23. There were 10 clubs and 135 wrestlers on hand for the day-long tournament.

The Weyburn host club entered provincials with 19 wrestlers, and came out with 17 medals, including eight gold, seven silver and two bronze.

The following are the results for the Weyburn wrestlers:

In the Freshie category: Grady McLeod, Owen Pulfer, Anna Lanz and Brysen Richaud all won first for gold medals; Lochlan Pirlot, Cassius Henning and Megan Kerr won second for silver.

In the Novice class: Conner Pocha, Hudson Fowler and Mirabelle Leroux all won first for gold; Rio Orr took second for silver; Rastyn Weiss placed third for bronze; and Madyx Weiss and Sophie McLeod both placed in fourth.

In the Peewee class: Landon Leroux won first for gold; Owen Arthur, Donovan Lanz and Ezakiel Peralta each placed second for silver, and Jep Furgason came third for bronze.
