Mom’s Florist on Centre Street in Assiniboia brought some early seasonal cheer with its Christmas open house event held on the evening of November 15.

St. Paul’s United Church held its annual Christmas bake sale on November 10 featuring a variety of tempting baked goods. Vivian Kell was one of the volunteers helping to host the sale.

The November U.S. World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report reduced its 2017 Red Meat and Poultry production dropping slightly to 100.430 billion lbs. from the October estimates. U.S. meat production for 2017 is estimated to be 2.

The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities held its midterm meeting on November 7-8 in Regina. A number of issues topped the agenda, including a presentation by the Tire Stewardship of Saskatchewan (TSS).

After a few years of preparation, Southeast College announced on November 7 that it will be offering its own third class power engineering theory only course. The first course is scheduled to start February 5, 2018, at the Estevan Campus.

The Assiniboia and District Public Library started its annual Christmas Silent Auction on November 3 with dozens of items up for bidding. The public is welcome to come to the library to place a bid on any items and the bidding closes at 4 p.m.

Night Jesus was Born is an unique display of over 900 nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus. The event takes place on December 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on December 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Assiniboia Livestock Auction held a pre-sorted Charolais cross and/or Angus cross calf and yearling sale on November 7 and a regular cull cow and bull sale on November 8 with 3,574 head sold at both sales.

The Big Muddy Mutual Aid organization donated $1,000 to the activity departments in the Grasslands Health Centre in Rockglen and the Coronach Health Centre.

Schools in Assiniboia held Remembrance Day commemorations on November 10. Students and staff at the Assiniboia Elementary School participated in a commemorative program. Attending the event were special guests Sgt.
