Two athletes from Assiniboia and one from Bengough joined 322 other athletes on Team Saskatchewan to compete in the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg and Brandon.

The JustinSane Barbicar Club of Mossbank made a donation to Assiniboia’s new rink project on August 1.

The Moose Jaw Little League girls softball district All Star Sask Team won the bronze medal at the Junior League Canadian Championships in Calgary on July 24-27.

The Town of Assiniboia has confirmed some recent cases of Dutch Elm disease in trees in town. The town’s tree contractor will be removing the town-owned trees beginning the week of July 24 on the 500 block of Third Avenue East.

Fans of polka music and dancing filled the auditorium of the Prince of Wales Centre in Assiniboia for the 15th annual Polka Fest on July 14-15. Over 100 people attended the event with the busiest times being the evenings.

Hey, Saskatchewan! We’re number one in Canada … for obesity rates. It’s another inglorious statistic for Saskatchewan which also heads the country in impaired driving and HIV rates.

The Assiniboia and District Chamber of Commerce hosted a presentation about STARS Air Ambulance at its Lunch and Learn in June.

The Deep South Pioneer Museum in Ogema held its Museum Day on July 9. The tourist attraction is an open-air museum with 30 historical pioneer buildings as well as working art galleries and an operational community hall.

The Assiniboia and District Public Library played host to two literacy events aimed at children and adults on July 25-26. Calgary-based Lee and Sandy Paley held a high-energy interactive performance attended by children and their parents on July 25.
