Time and time again we are faced with adversity; the world we live in somehow prides itself on the notion. That's what I believe anyway and just about everyone has gone through some situation that they had to struggle through.

A weary traveller approaches a farm yard with hesitant steps. Dusk is approaching, but it is still bright enough to see a youthful, though drawn face, covered with dust. Suddenly a cloaked figure seems to appear from the farmyard.

It was an up and down weekend for Rider Pride. It began on a definite high note Friday evening with the 2013 Plaza of Honor induction ceremony as Rider greats Gene Makowsky and Eddie Davis were inducted into the franchise's version of a Hall of Fame.

It was almost nine summers ago when Bowan Karl Rekken passed away. His friends were so moved by his passing that they approached his parents about building a motocross track in his memory in Carlyle. It was a sport Rekken enjoyed when he was alive.

The Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP received 44 calls for service over the week of Sept. 13 to 19. Abandoned Vehicle An abandoned vehicle was reported in a parking lot along Hwy 13. The vehicle had been parked for over a week and was removed.

A few years ago the movie "Back to the Future" was so very popular that it had led many people's steps back into the movie theatres.

The Arcola Craft Show, which has been active for 10 years, saw 54 vendors this year. Quite a leap from last year's 31 vendors. Held the same weekend as Homespun, organizers and vendors of the Arcola Craft Show believe it is a symbiotic relationship.
