Carlyle will be getting a jolt on the business side when Main Street will see the opening of a new store. Wednesday, Jan. 13 has been set aside for the official grand opening of The Eight Word Café, a coffee-shop/restaurant opening on Main Street.

My wife and I went to a bar the other night to take in a show by a friend of mine who does lovely jazz standards. We got there early enough to eat, although - since my friend is a popular performer - our table was well back from the stage.
