I admit that my attention was somewhat divided in the early part of this morning's church service.

Last year the Southeast Vipers, a new club volleyball team, went through a building year. The 17 and under women's team is now going into its second season, hoping to have a successful year.

Brrr... In my 24 years I don't think I've ever known a December to be quite this cold. Usually it's January and February that bring such freezing temperatures with them.

Between the week of Dec. 13 to Dec 20 the Carlyle RCMP detachment received 47 calls. Assault Within the local area there were six reported cases of assault. A 37-year-old female has been charge along with a 21-year-male in a separate incident.

Thirty-one years ago a group of women attended a concert in Wawota where a performance was put on by a number of ladies from Moosomin. This acted as the inspiration for the Wawota based group, Hints of Harmony.

With a new year upon us, it's natural for most of us to look ahead to what might occur in our given world. Predicting anything for farmers is perhaps as difficult as prognostications can get.

So what kind of year should we hope for in 2014? Well, how about one almost identical to the year we had in 2013, one of the best years that Saskatchewan (and especially, rural Saskatchewan) has ever had.

Everyone loves a Christmas story. We know the main ingredients: a woman, a child and a miracle of joy. The following is a true story: It was Christmas Eve when a man entered the blue door of Madonna House. He was thin, hunched over and very cold.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Really time goes so fast. Christmas Day is just a couple of days ahead.

Last year Manor School chose to go caroling in place of their annual Christmas play. Though last year's event was considered a success, the school again decided to host a Christmas play.
