ESTEVAN — Estevan police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette stolen during the early morning hours of Monday, June 9.

The vehicle, with Saskatchewan licence plate 185MQI, was taken from a commercial location in the city. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Estevan Police Service at 306-634-4767 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The missing Corvette was among several investigations police responded to over a five-day period.

On June 6, officers arrested a 25-year-old man from Rockwood, Man., in connection with a stolen vehicle case reported in January. He was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Evidence found in the vehicle was processed by a forensic identification officer, and DNA analysis later linked the man to the crime.

The same day, police received a report of a theft from a vehicle, which remains under investigation.

Officers attended a non-reportable two-vehicle collision on Kensington Avenue and helped the drivers exchange information.

They also responded to an intrusion alarm at a business in the city’s south end. The building was secure, and no signs of forced entry were found. An individual in the area was spoken to, but police found no indication of criminal activity.

On June 5, police responded to a call to assist EMS at a local hotel. The individual involved was assessed and helped by EMS, and no police action was required.

Officers also investigated a reported break and enter that was later determined to be a dispute between two tenants in a rental suite. The situation was resolved by police.

On June 7, a high-visibility impaired driving check stop and random vehicle stops were conducted. One driver was found to be impaired by a drug. She was charged following a poor result on a standardized field sobriety test. Her driver’s licence was suspended for three days, her vehicle was impounded for seven, and further charges are pending the results of a blood test.

Police directed traffic for a significant portion of the night after an insecure load on a westbound semi-tractor trailer caused damage to the rail crossing on the Highway 39 bypass. The driver was located and charged with two vehicle offences.

A 911 call from a local youth led police to investigate a domestic disturbance, which was resolved without charges. A second domestic call later that night involved alcohol; one person agreed to leave for the evening.

Police also responded to a hit-and-run collision in an east-end business parking lot. The incident remains under investigation.

Later on June 7, EPS officers and conservation officers responded to the 600 block of Second Street, where a deceased moose was found. Arrangements were made for the animal’s removal and disposal.

On June 8, officers responded to a barking dog complaint at a home in the city’s north end. The owner was warned under the city’s noise bylaw.

That night, a traffic stop led to the arrest of a suspended driver who had outstanding warrants for failing to attend court. He was released with a new court date in August. His vehicle was impounded.

Police also conducted compliance checks on individuals bound by court-ordered conditions, and all were found to be in compliance.
