An Estevan’s trustee on the South East Cornerstone Public School Division’s board was one of three retiring board members recognized during the board’s Oct. 14 meeting.

Residents of the Estevan area once again showed their generosity and community spirit during the 44th annual United Way Estevan Telethon.

The United Way Estevan has eclipsed its goal for its 44th annual fundraising telethon. A $10,000 donation from former Estevan resident Jeff Sandquist just before 2:30 p.m. pushed the United Way above its goal of $320,000. As of 2:30 p.m.

There is one new case of COVID-19 in the southeast region, according to the daily report issued Saturday. The new case is located in southeast Zone 4, which is the zone that includes Estevan.

Estevan Mercury publisher and sales manager Deanna Tarnes presented $1,000 to United Way Estevan president Melanie Graham Saturday afternoon. The money was raised through the Mercury’s Summer Coupon Book promotion.

The United Way Estevan has surpassed the $100,000 mark for its annual fundraising telethon. The telethon reached six figures Saturday morning just before 10 a.m. The goal is to raise $320,000 by 5 p.m. Saturday evening.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has received the green light to begin play immediately. In a press release issued Friday evening, the SJHL said it would be allowed to have a maximum of 150 fans in attendance.
