The SARCAN recycling depot in Estevan was a very busy place in its first week back in service. The depot reopened to the public on June 15, after being closed for 2 1/2 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A watermain replacement project is now underway in the 1200-block of Veterans Crescent. The project started a few days ago, and the road is expected to be closed for approximately four weeks, pending weather conditions.

There are 11 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan to report on June 20, according to the Ministry of Health, bringing the provincial total to 726.

Lampman’s Edwin Hookenson has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-Armerican for the second time in his NCAA hockey career. Hookenson is a defenceman with the Minnesota State University Mavericks, based out of Mankato, Minn.

A new concept to promote business in Estevan is going to open next week. The Launch Box will officially open its doors – by appointment only – to entrepreneurs of southeast Saskatchewan, creating the southeast’s one-stop-shop for innovation.

As challenging as these past months of isolation have been, there are lots of positive things happening in our neighbourhood. First, there are a lot of new fences and paint jobs.

Saskatchewan communities will benefit from 358 grants totaling $3,985,127 through the Community Initiatives Fund’s (CIF) Feb. 1 and April 1 deadlines. These grants will contribute to the wellbeing of 133 communities across Saskatchewan.
