With the reopening of the Rafferty Dam Marina approaching this May, the committee is getting ready for the opening of the the old dock, in addition to a new one, to accommodate continued growth of the marina’s popularity.

Lori Carr has been elected as the new MLA for the Estevan constituency. With all 55 polling stations reporting as of 11 p.m. on Monday night, Carr, who was running for the Saskatchewan Party, captured 5,386 votes of the 6,917 votes cast, or 77.

Southeast Saskatchewan is a treasure trove of good food, drink and entertainment in its own right.

The Estevan Family Resource Centre is looking for some community support, and has a toe-tapping event planned for later this month, to garner that support.

The Grade 8 English class at Sacred Heart School/École Sacré Coeur has spent the last few months learning how to reduce carbon emissions.

Sympathies to the friends and family of the late Ralph Steinke, who passed away on Jan. 31 at the age of 96 years. He farmed in the Outram-Torquay area for many years. A funeral service was held February 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estevan.

The initiative is still in its early stages, but a dedicated committee is working to bring a new drop-in youth centre to Oxbow.

The Torquay Community Club has received another donation as they continue to make upgrades to the village’s arena. The club received a $20,000 donation from Richardson Pioneer on March 24.
