Over the past 11 years, Sandy Johnson and her three daughters have been spreading their Christmas cheer to residents of the community without anyone to spend the holidays with. "We have donated over $10,000 back into the community," said Johnson.

There’s little to compare to the excitement of a child waiting to dive into the treasure trove of parcels under a tree. Or, of an adult whose carefully disciplined emotions didn’t quite reach the pupils of his or her eyes.

A Christmas story needs to include elements of gift, love, joy and hope. It is a tale about those who are poor in spirit. It will bring a tear to the eye.

Challenge Day returned to the Estevan Comprehensive School on Dec. 17 and 18 to welcome the Grade 9 class to the day-long events that teach the students it’s OK to open up.

The second annual Raise the Woof event, held by the Weyburn Humane Society, was a huge success resulting in over $15,000 being raised.
