A popular annual initiative is underway in Estevan.
The Angel Tree opened Monday; the final day is Dec. 12. Trees are located at three locations in the city: Walmart, Your Toy Store and More, and Mr. Mikes’ Steakhouse Casual.
People can pluck an angel from the tree and purchase a gift. A pink angel is for girls and a blue angel is for boys, and the angels have an age inscribed.
Supporters can also make cash donations to support the campaign.
The Angel Tree is part of the Community Hamper Association. The association runs the Angel Tree each year so that hamper recipients with children can select a toy to round out the hamper.
This week’s edition of the Mercury will have more information on the hamper association and the Angel Tree.
