A 90th birthday tea and a family supper was held for Morris Pollock on Aug. 5 in the Fillmore Hall with many friends and family attending. His actual birth date is Aug. 9. Approximately 140 people attended from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec.
Residents might note that both Alex Beattie and Morris Pollock were born the same day. Alex was born at Gap View, northeast of Stoughton, and Morris at the family home northeast of Fillmore. The Beattie family lived at Fillmore from 1935 to 38, when they moved to Broadview.
Bob and Sharon Clay spent July 21 to 31 holidaying in B.C. They visited friends who toured them around Parksville, Tofino and Port Alberni. They then went to Victoria where they attended the wedding of niece, Raynelle Wilson, daughter of Chuck Wilson and Darla Hunter, to James Saunders on July 28. Orley and Melvina Treble also attended the wedding of their niece.
Overnight visitors at the home of Eldon and Audrey Piper on July 30 were nephew, Richard Beaune, from Toronto and his cast and crew from his play "The Last Man Standing".
Richard, Steven, Phil, David, Dana and Sarah Jot performed at the Fringe Festivals in Montreal and Winnipeg in July, and will be performing in Calgary and Edmonton in August. Richard is the son-in-law of Audrey's brother, Raymond Johnston of Sherwood Park, Alta.
