The Estevan branch of the Royal Canadian Legion recently presented a trio of cheques to assist veterans.
The legion donated $20,000 from the Poppy Trust Fund; the money was raised through its annual poppy campaign prior to Remembrance Day. The legion donated $10,000 to Paws for Vets, a program that provides service dogs to veterans in need.
Another $7,500 went to Leave the Streets Behind, which assists homeless veterans. And $2,500 was donated to the Veterans’ Wellness Program, which provides assistance on all matters of wellness from nutrition to physical fitness.
The cheques were presented at the Royal Canadian Legion’s Zone 1 rally in Lampman on Sept. 28.
