Weyburn pastor Doug Loden shows an example of "Loden beans" growing in the Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he recently spent two weeks on a mission trip. Years ago when he was visiting the Congo, he brought a bucket of beans to local church leaders, and now they are used all over the region, and are called Loden beans. Loden will talking about a project in the Congo at a fundraising event with the Rotary Club, "A Taste of Congo", on Thursday, Feb. 23, and the proceeds will go towards helping fund the project in Congo, which involves locals there about how to deal with a disease that is decimating their banana crops.
