Midale (cpd) - The Midale Oilmen's Association 19th Annual Golf Tournament was a huge success. They ended up with 142 golfers which is the best turnout in recent memory. The winners with the lowest score were John Fleury and Shane Pollack who shot a 62. The winners of the horse race were Jayson Fenwick and Chris Hammett.

The Midale Museum will be open for visitors and tours until Labour Day weekend. The annual Threshing Bee and Heritage days will be held on Aug. 18 and 19. Be sure to come out and enjoy the pancake breakfast each morning. Also on Aug. 19 will be the ecumenical church service at 11 a.m. at Heritage Village. All are welcome to attend.
Summer MOMents - Are you a mom? Are in interested in a playgroup for your baby, toddler, preschooler or other younger child(ren)? Come join other moms over hot coffee while the kids play! They will meet in the side wing of the Midale Baptist Church on following Wednesday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m.: Aug. 15 and 22. For more information please contact Criston White.

The Midale Public Library is once again holding the TD Summer Reading Program. This year's theme is Imagine! This theme will familiarize young readers with literature of the fantastic. Readers will be charmed by fantasy stories and novels and they will be enthralled by tales of wonder. They will discover unusual creatures and strange machines in mysterious locales. Imagine a summer of books, games and activities that will give free rein to young people's imaginations.

Preschool and children's programs will take place every Wednesday morning at the Midale Public Library. Call the library for more information and to register your child.

Due to a donation from the Midale Catering Club and the Midale and Area Farmers Association, the Midale Civic Centre has all new air conditioners. At a cost of around $17,000, the two upstairs and one main floor air conditioning units were replaced.

Midale resident Ken Meyers passed away at age 52. He leaves to mourn his son Chris (Natasha) Meyers and grandson Kayden from Midale and his daughter Madeline Meyers, granddaughter Jessica and grandson Kieran from Estevan. His funeral was held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Midale on Aug 1.

Darren and Catrina Moldenhauer received news of the death of Catrina's cousin Wayne Istace who was 48 years of age. He lived in Maple Creek, Sask., and his funeral service was held on Aug. 1 at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Kennedy, Sask. On the day of Wayne's funeral, they received news of the passing of Catrina's uncle Adrie Quist, age 76, from Woerden, the Netherlands.
