There is another new case of COVID-19 in southeast Saskatchewan, according to the daily data supplied by the Ministry of Health.
The new case is in Southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan. There are now seven active cases in Zone 4.
Since COVID-19 was first diagnosed in Saskatchewan in March, there have been 27 cases in the southeast region. Eight of those cases are considered active.
There are 10 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Wednesday, bringing the total to 1,994 reported cases. In addition to the new case in the southeast, there are four cases in the Saskatoon region, three in the Regina region, one in the central west and one in the central east.
One case with pending location from October 6 has been assigned to the central east region.
Of the 1,994 reported cases, 138, or 6.9 per cent, are considered active.
Eleven more people have recovered, bringing the provincial total to 1,832 recoveries, or nearly 92 per cent of those diagnosed.
Five people are in hospital. Four people are receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon. One person is in intensive care in Regina.
There have been 457 cases are from the south area (225 southwest, 205 south central and 27 southeast).
As for the rest of the province, 414 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 360 cases are from the far north area (351 far northwest, nine far northeast), 284 cases are from the central area (177 central west, 107 central east), 282 cases are from the north area (132 northwest, 81 north central, 69 northeast), and 197 cases are from the Regina area
Of the 1,994 cases in the province to date, 303 cases are travellers, 989 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 574 have no known exposures and 128 are under investigation by local public health.
Seventy-six cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.
There have been 344 cases involving people 19 years of age and under, 661 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 609 are in the 40-59 age range, 314 are in the 60-79 age range and 66 are in the 80-plus range.
Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.
Twenty-four deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to date.
To date, 205,463 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Oct. 5, when other provincial and national numbers are available from Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 143,426 people tested per million population. The national rate was 206,423 people tested per million population.
There were 1,730 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan on Tuesday.
