Carlyle and R.M. #63 Fire and Rescue made a gesture of support for the Carlyle RCMP, making a very difficult day a little easier when they showed they were thinking of their fellow emergency responders at the Carlyle RCMP Detachment.
The Fire Department gathered in front of the RCMP Detachment on April 24 at 4 p.m. and knelt to pay respect and acknowledge the loss of RCMP Constable Heidi Stevenson, who was killed in the line of duty in a tragic and senseless crime in Nova Scotia that took place over two days, April 18 and 19. Twenty-one other victims were also killed by a lone gunman.
The Department’s lead truck was adorned with a blue over black ribbon in full display.
Staff Sgt. Darren Simons, in thanking the fire department, made a heartfelt mention to the firefighters, “The blue ribbon choked me up.” The careful thought by the Fire Department made a solemn day a little brighter.
