The South East Regional Economic Development Authority (SEREDA) is still cultivating relationships that began during the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) conference, which was held earlier this year in Whistler BC.
"When Mayor Button and I were at the conference in Whistler it was evident that Weyburn was on the radar of retailers, but we realize that those deals take time to come to fruition," said SEREDA
General Manager Jeff Richards. "We have on-going conversations with a number of people from that event and we know that conversations are in the works with property developers as well.
Richards also indicated that some of the advertising SEREDA has been doing is also starting to attract the attention of industry.
"We are starting to see increased interest from industry again, similar to what we experienced five years ago," he said, "and certainly there are many energy sector businesses but we're also getting interest from warehouse and distribution companies."
SEREDA has a number of investment attraction strategies that are implemented throughout the year, including work at the Weyburn Oil Show, industry publications, on-line information, and being present at events such as the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary and the ICSC Conference in Whistler.
