Estevan's Relay for Life project received another significant boost Saturday with a Relay for Life party in the Estevan Shoppers Mall complete with live music, speeches and various activities.

Lit luminaries light up the walking track at Crescent Point Place on Friday evening, as all the teams take part in a reflective walk to celebrate the friends and loved ones written on each luminary bag at the 2012 Relay For Life.

The lead up to this year's Relay for Life is now underway, following a Survivors' Tea last Thursday evening and the official kickoff Saturday.

It has been a very busy month of May considering there have been so many students from Stoughton Central School to go to track and badminton districts and eventually regionals.

They all started as little tykes tentatively holding their tiaras in place while trying to remember what foot had to go where first.

The Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP responded to a total of 92 calls in the week of May 18 to the 24th. During this period, the detachment wrapped up Canada Road Safety Week.

Mrs. Czemeres and the school's SADD group were very busy last week. They organized a Grim Reaper Day which had students being "whited out" to illustrate how devastating the drinking and driving statistics are.

Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart has announced $50,000 in funding for the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association (SSGA) from the province's Voluntary Traceability Fund.

The YWCA of Regina holds Women of Distinction Awards every year. Focused on bringing "honours to the exceptional contributions of women who positively impact their community," this awards gala was held at the beginning of May.

"Optimist Clubs are dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" and do their part through community service programs.
