A long-time supporter of youth athletics in the southeast region has been selected to receive an award for her commitment.

Several local golfers put in an impressive showing in the first tournament of the year for the Maple Leaf Junior Tour in Saskatchewan. The competition was held June 27 and 28 at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club in Swift Current.

A volunteer with the Estevan Sharks water polo club has been recognized for her commitment to the sport. Lucinda Milford has been honoured with the Water Polo Saskatchewan Official of the Year Award.

Kevin Folk, left, presented the Perry Folk Fellowship Award to the 2019 recipient, Kris Labatt, on Friday. The award was first presented in 2009 to Graham DeLaet, and was created in memory of Kevin’s brother Perry.

The Estevan Motor Speedway has announced that it is going to have a program on July 5 at 6 p.m., with spectators in the stands. The track held its season-opening program on June 13.

Weyburn soccer coach Tyler Hillstead was named Volunteer of the Year, chosen by the Saskatchewan Soccer Association. This is is a provincial award to given to the recipient that went above and beyond.
