The Estevan Bruins finished their four games in five nights road trip with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Melfort Mustangs on Saturday night.

Brent Gedak’s run at the 2020 SaskTel Tankard men’s provincial curling championship came to an end Saturday morning.

Estevan’s two atom female hockey teams had good showings on the weekend. The Estevan Senchuk Bearcats defeated the Lake Diefenbaker Thunder 5-3 on Jan. 24 at the Power Dodge Ice Centre, and 4-1 on Jan. 26 at Affinity Place.

A former Estevan resident is now a world hockey champion. Dawn Bird (née Hirsch) was part of the Peace Country Canadians entry that won women's hockey gold at the 2020 Winter World Masters Games in Austria on Jan. 12.

Wanda Harron has gained a reputation for her sports photography, both locally and provincially. But thanks to a contest offered by the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL), people across the country have taken notice of her talents.

The Redvers Rockets have clinched first place in the Big Six Hockey League’s regular season standings. Redvers defeated the Midale Mustangs 11-2 on Jan. 25 and the Bienfait Coalers 10-6 the following day to improve their record to 16-1.

The Organizing committee of the Dakota Classic Modified Tour announced that the Estevan Motor Speedway was chosen as the first and only two-day stop in the 2020 tour, starting on July 11.
