Estevan Minor Box Lacrosse’s teams in the South Saskatchewan Lacrosse League had a busy weekend. The Estevan MNP midget Voltz opened their season with a pair of dominating victories, defeating Standing Buffalo 10-1 and 18-1.

Auriel Bill continues to add to her list of accolades while playing collegiate water polo in California. The Estevan native won two prestigious awards this year.

The novice Thrashers attended the Queen city Minor Box Lacrosse tournament in Regina May 11 and 12 for a round robin. They played the Regina Fighting Irish for a win 9-6 on May 11.

Nine gymnasts from the Airbourne gymnastics club out of Weyburn headed to Saskatoon over the weekend to compete at the 2019 provincial championships.

The Estevan Golden Eels swim club has established themselves as the class of the province in summer speed swimming in the last few years. And now they have started get ready for the upcoming season, as they hope to add to their dynasty.

After months of inter-provincial competition, the 2019 14-and-under Western National Championship was played this past weekend in Calgary, with eight boys and eight girls’ teams competing for the title of Western National Champions League.

This year’s Western Hockey League (WHL) champions have a strong local flavour.

The Weyburn Cobras 15U women’s volleyball team attended Nationals in Edmonton from May 9-12. The Cobras were seeded number three in Saskatchewan going into Nationals, so were placed in Division 1, which included the top 32 teams in the country.

A member of the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs badminton team won a bronze medal at provincials in Swift Current on Saturday. Ruth Pecson went 3-2 overall to win the medal in girls' singles.
