The Weyburn Red Wings announced on Friday they have hired Cody Mapes as the new assistant coach to head coach Rich Pilon for the upcoming season As well, the team has traded goaltender Cody Levesque (born 2000) to the Nipawin Hawks for Colton Nikifor

Twenty-eight shooters from Saskatchewan, Manitoba and North Dakota descended on Estevan from May 31-June 2 for the Estevan Trap Shooting Club’s registered meet. Winners were crowned in different divisions each day.

The Estevan Elite under-12 squirt team took the gold medal at a tournament in Saskatoon that had 20 teams from all over Saskatchewan. The Elite went 5-1 at the competition.

The Southeast Performance Pump midget AAA Twins split home games with the Swift Current 57s on Sunday afternoon at Lynn Prime Park. The Twins dropped the first game 10-4, but recovered to win the second 8-7 in extra innings.

Students from the Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) had a strong showing at the recent Skills Canada national competition in Halifax, and one of the students brought home a bronze medal.

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins bolstered their prospect ranks Friday during the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) draft, selecting eight players in six rounds.

The Saskatchewan Water Polo Awards Gala was held Saturday in Regina, and two members of the Estevan Sharks were recognized. Sadie Smith of Oxbow was named the 14-and-under Female Athlete of the Year. This was Smith’s third season with the Sharks.
