A first-time competitor was the big winner at this year’s Estevan Oilfield Technical Society (OTS) Oilmen’s golf tournament. Keith Sawyer won the 36-hole competition at the tournament, which ran from Friday to Sunday at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course.

Sterling LaBatte picked a good time to get his first feature race victory at the Estevan Motor Speedway. LaBatte, who hails from Weyburn, won the stock car invitational Saturday night at the track. Twenty-three drivers entered the race.

Randy Ritter aimed at his 3D animal target as Bill Karapita awaited his turn, as they took part in the Weyburn Wildlife Federation's 3D Archery Shoot on Saturday near Trossachs. The pair were from Regina.

The Weyburn Beavers started their 2019 season on Wednesday with an away game against the Swift Current 57's. They lost that game 9-8. On Thursday they played another away game, but this time in Regina against the Red Sox.

Members of the Weyburn Ladies Golf Club gathered to present a donation of $15,000 to Brett Berkner, manager of the Weyburn Golf Club, to go towards the irrigation system project.

Bob Burns, a long-time umpire in Estevan who was inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame, has died. He was 89. Burns was born in 1930 on the family homestead in Flintoft District, Saskatchewan.

Four members of the Estevan Taekwon-Do Club were rewarded for the efforts and their hard work this past weekend when it came time for black belt testing.

The Estevan Golden Eels summer speed swimming club hosted their annual mini meet on Wednesday afternoon at the RM of Estevan Aquatic Centre.

Weyburn’s Challenger Baseball program received support from the Weyburn Young Fellows Club and the Weyburn Rotary Club recently, as they plan to send athletes to the National Challenger Jamboree.

Representatives of Weyburn Special Olympics bowling and the staff of TS&M in Weyburn gathered to present a donation of $1,350 to bowler Justin DeRoos on Tuesday. All of the staff contributed towards this donation for DeRoos.
