On March 15-16, the Annual Ladies Bonspiel was held at the Assiniboia Curling Club. The theme of the bonspiel was plaid, perhaps in reference to the sport’s Scottish origins.

The Assiniboia Senior Rebels are the 2018-2019 Notekeu League Champions, following a pair of weekend victories over their arch rivals, the Coronach Merchants, earning the 4-0 sweep.

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins are once again trailing the Humboldt Broncos in their best-of-seven Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League quarter-final series. Estevan dropped a 6-3 decision to the Broncos in Game 3 of the series Monday night in Humboldt.

Members of the Estevan Sharks water polo club played key roles in the recent success of some Saskatchewan teams. Over the past six months, 22 atom and bantam athletes from the Sharks have been attending additional training.

There were some strong local connections for the best team in the Western Hockey League (WHL) this season. The Prince Albert Raiders wrapped up their 2018-19 regular season on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over the Saskatoon Blades.

The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs senior girls basketball team came up one win short of qualifying for the Hoopla provincial basketball tournament. The Elecs dropped a 48-41 decision to Notre Dame Saturday afternoon in Wilcox.

Comp Eagles player Blake Anderson rushed with the ball into the key to shoot two points against Moose Jaw Vanier, at the SHSAA 4A Regional Boys basketball championships on Saturday at the Eagle gym.

The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs senior boys basketball team has punched their ticket for Hoopla next weekend in Saskatoon.
