The Big Six Hockey League’s regular season came to a close on Saturday night with three games.

Seven was a big number for the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins on Saturday night. The Bruins defeated the Weyburn Red Wings 7-2 at Affinity Place; it was the second straight game in which they scored seven goals against their Highway 39 rivals.

A boys basketball tournament was held at Spruce Ridge School on the weekend. Teams from numerous local schools were entered. Pleasantdale defeated St. Mary's 85-58 in the gold medal game.

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins moved into top spot in the Viterra Division on Friday night with a convincing 7-0 road win over the Weyburn Red Wings. Michael McChesney and Jayden Davis scored in the first period to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins dropped two close games to the Prairie Storm Extreme, but recovered to rout the Lumsden-Bethune Lions. Estevan lost 5-4 to the Extreme on Jan. 25 in Emerald Park and 3-2 in overtime on Jan. 26 in Balgonie.
