A total of 13 athletes from the Estevan area were part of Team Sask in water polo’s U16 National Championship League last weekend in Regina.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins won two out of five games at the Kelly Dmyterko Memorial Tournament in Prince Albert on the weekend.

Estevan skip Brent Gedak is finding some early success with his new rink. Gedak’s team made it to the semifinal of the Saskatchewan Men’s Curling Tour stop on the weekend at the Regina Highland Club, winning four matches in a row.

The Estevan TS&M bantam AA Bruins won both of their games on the weekend in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League, thanks to some timely scoring, some good defensive play and excellent goaltending from Joshua Bittman.

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins closed out their three-game road trip with a 3-2 loss in Humboldt against the Broncos on Sunday afternoon. Derek Patter opened the scoring 3:13 into the first period to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.

A three-goal first period was enough offence for the Kindersley Klippers to get the win, as they defeated the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins 3-2 on Saturday night in Kindersley.

The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs senior boys and girls volleyball teams competed at the regional 5A south playdowns on the weekend. The senior boys came within a win of qualifying for provincials during the playdowns in Weyburn.

The Estevan Minor Hockey Association hosted its annual initiation jamboree on Saturday morning at Affinity Place.
