The breadth and scope of the Estevan Strippers annual senior hockey tournament will change slightly due to the decommissioning of the Civic Auditorium. While they're still going to have 40 teams in the event this year.

Weyburn Minor Football will hold a fundraiser event with a Super Bowl party on Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Weyburn Legion Hall.

Carlyle Minor Hockey Day has been an ongoing celebration of the sport in the community for many years. This year neighbouring towns participating in the competitive, yet very fun atmosphere included Arcola, Redvers, and Carnduff.

The opening matches for the first two draws of the 2018 SaskTel Tankard at Affinity Place were announced this morning by Curling Saskatchewan. The opening draw Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Saskatchewan’s table tennis scene was on full display last weekend at the Estevan Comprehensive School’s gym.

It was a quiet week in the Big Six Hockey League, so there wasn’t a lot of movement in the standings. The Carnduff Red Devils stayed on top with a 9-1 win over the Wawota Flyers Sunday and a 7-3 victory over Yellow Grass Wheat Kings on Saturday.

The Atom Bear Cats were close but not quite Sunday afternoon at the Power Dodge Ice Centre. The Bear Cats (5-8-5) lost 6-5 to the Weyburn Blizzards (12-4-1) moments after tying the game with a goal with 10 seconds left.

Two groups of Sharks and Mini-Sharks headed to Weyburn last weekend for their first tournament since the Christmas break last weekend. The morning started off with the boys Atom Shark teams hitting the water.

Estevan's Cole Fonstad scored during the Canadian Hockey League's Top Prospects Game on Thursday night in Guelph, Ont. Fonstad, skating for Team Orr, tallied at the 6:11 mark of the third period. At that point, Team Orr was trailing Team Cherry 7-3.
