The Sweeping for STARS bonspiel is back for a third year, thanks to the generous support of Weyburn and area residents. The previous two bonspiels have raised nearly $16,000 for the STARS air ambulance.

The Atom Tier I Bruins hockey team have been working hard but hadn’t seen the results until recently, but they won and tied on the weekend for their first win of the season.

Members and teams from the Estevan Water Polo Club Sharks were busy this weekend participating in 16U NCL games in Calgary and 14U NCL games in Regina.

It was a good weekend for the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs curling teams, who played at the Power Dodge Curling Centre at the Pepsi Youth Bonspiel.

The Apex Bruins are starting to get their momentum rolling in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League’s Midget AA Division, even on the road. The Bruins defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors (5-17-2-2) by scores of 5-1 Saturday and 7-3 Sunday.

The SaskTel Tankard is so close, one can almost hear the top men’s curlers in the province urging their sweepers. Place for the Tankard, which will take place Jan.

The Weyburn Red Wings won both of their home weekend games before seven players headed off to play in the MJHL-SJHL showcase on Monday and Tuesday.
