A little rain and wind couldn’t stop over 300 anglers from competing in the 20th annual Alameda Fishing Derby at Moose Creek Regional Park last Saturday.

The Estevan 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games is sending out a call for more volunteers.

The Carlyle Cardinals are atop the Saskota Baseball League standings entering the final weeks of the season. Carlyle improved their record to 10-2 with a 22-7 win over the Windthorst Pirates on June 28 in Carlyle.

With the Saskatchewan Summer Games to be hosted this July in Estevan this group of girls have come together to form Team Southeast’s 14U Volleyball team. Recently they attended Men’s World League in Saskatoon.

The Weyburn Beavers are heading on an extensive road trip, where they will play against several Alberta-based teams. The Beavers will be in Medicine Hat for a doubleheader tonight, June 29, and Thursday, June 30.

Hits right through the order propelled the Southeast A’s bantam AAA baseball team to 11-2 and 11-7 wins over the Swift Current Indians in a doubleheader at Alameda Field on Saturday.

The sprint cars made a glorious return to the Estevan Motor Speedway on Friday night after eight long years away from the track, but the final result didn’t sit well with one of its local drivers.

The Estevan Coaler Rollers junior roller derby team celebrated the strides they made on the track over the past 10 months with their annual windup scrimmage at Bienfait Memorial Arena on Sunday.

Brett Berkner was recently introduced as the new manager for the Weyburn Curling Club. Berkner will replace present manager Glenn Tollefson, who is retiring from the position after 26 years of being the manager.
