Alameda School’s Team Freitag defeated Weyburn Junior High School’s Team Haupstein in two straight games to win the South East District Junior Mixed Curling Playdown at the Lampman Curling Club on Saturday.

Hosted in Prince Albert between Jan. 27 and 31, the Viterra Scotties Provincial competition, saw local curlers compete in an effort to reach the National Scotties competition coming up in February in Grand Prairie.

The date has been set for the Weyburn Credit Union Curl for Kids Sake fundraiser for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Weyburn. The event is to take place on Saturday, March 5 at the Weyburn Curling Club. The bonspiel starts at 4 p.m.
