With about four minutes left in the fourth quarter, it was like the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs just flipped a switch.

The Estevan Lions Club Steelers were a few seconds away from picking up their second win of the season when it was taken away from them.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders won 27-21 on Saturday over the B.C. Lions, the best team in the Canadian Football League. It was a battle between the two West division teams, as the Riders went into the game at 6-6 and the Lions were 9-3.

The Estevan Comprehensive School senior girls' volleyball squad was the best team from start to finish in their home tournament on the weekend. The Elecs defeated Carlyle 25-15, 25-15 in the final on Saturday.

A road trip that began in strong fashion ended in disappointment for the CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins after the club lost two of three games. The Bruins (1-4-1) started the trip with a 5-4 victory over the Nipawin Hawks on Friday.

It is clear that if the Saskatchewan Roughriders are going to get back to the CFL playoffs in 2012 after a one year hiatus, it's up to Corey Chamblin to lead them there.

If you went by Lion's Park on Saturday, Sept. 22 you may have wondered what the crowd was for. The dozens of slo pitch players weren't only there for fun in the sun, but also for a worthy cause.

The 2012 President's Day Club Championship event was held at the Weyburn Golf Club on September 22. Fifty two people enjoyed a beautiful day of golf this year.

The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs could not have asked for a better start on Saturday. They certainly wished for a different ending.
