Weyburn's top line scored two goals and Mitch Kilgore stopped all 33 shots he faced to lead the Wings to a 3-0 win over the Bruins on Sunday at Spectra Place, giving Weyburn a 2-0 series lead.

Steven Glass was playing out of his mind and it appeared the Bruins would hang on to steal Game 1 in Weyburn's barn. Then it all changed in an instant.

Weyburn Red Wing forward Jesse Ross has been named the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's (SJHL) player of the year. Ross, who also earned the SJHL scoring title, lead the league in scoring with 46 goals and 45 assists in 56 games.

The Wings started off the last four games of their season with a road win over Prairie Storm by a score of 5-2. Wings led the game 3-1 after the 1st period Donovan Lumb scored the first goal with Tucker Neuberger and Brayden Ganson assisting.

Three SHSAA high school provincial curling championships will be contested on March 2-3. Weyburn will play host to both the boys and girls championships while Cabri will host the mixed championship at the Abbey curling rink.

Weyburn's Kelsey Jensen, Taylor Molde and Jenna Haupstein were in Coral Springs from February 17 to 19 to compete with Team SK in the girls U18 Youth Division at the Florida International Water Polo Tournament.

"And after 14 years... BRUINS VS. WINGS!" (Sorry for the bad Raymond Bourque impression. But it's hard not to get excited for this series.

Bruins sweep Hounds to set up series against Weyburn

The Estevan Apex Bruins won their last two games of the regular season on the weekend, locking up the fourth seed in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League entering the playoffs.
